Hi ive never been under the impression that id get cheaper prices by the internet! I can use the internet of course to get more information to look for better prices - eg info via Trip Advisor but even then i found that a lot of the places used or advertised there had higher prices. I use other websites for more altruistic and lonely planet type budget/choose your range of prices information.
i know the place myself and its hard enough as it is being a foreigner to get my 'moroccan' prices without looking like a tourist on the internet thats happy to pay tourist prices to agencies and contacts who set up there (Moroccans at the best of time are opportunists, not to mention others in the tourist industry who think hiking the prices up for tourists who think its easier via the internet is an easier way to get higher prices)
except for direct bookings via the internet such as what ive frequently recommended with contacting Jnane Mogador - their prices for a riad room are half the price of others and if you dont book in advance via their email contact you wont get a look in.
so yes generally its best to just phone them yourself. such as from your Lonely Planet guidebook (remember them!?) - just if you have an older one the numbers for Marrakech changed with the first 4 becoming a 2 after the oo212 country code.
or look up www.virtualtourist.com for recommendations with phone/internet contact info.
