Inzegane, Taroudannt to Igherm, Tafroute by public transport (Irherm, Igherm, Ighrem)

I posted a question on how viable this was a couple of years ago, but now the post is locked so I can’t add to it

I recently actually had the misfortune to undertake this journey, well nearly, and I’ve written this in the hope that others can benefit from my experience and mistakes

I set off rather late from Agadir, lunchtime, hoping to get to Ighrem by evening

Irherm, Igherm and Ighrem seem to be possible spellings for the same place

The grande taxi from Inzegane to Taroudant was straightforward

Taroudant grande taxi station is a bit of a fly blown dump IMHO (I've been stuck there on past occasions) and I waited there nearly two hours in the mid-afternoon for a taxi to Ighrem

Nearly gave up and stayed the night in Taroudant instead, but eventually we had enough people to fill the taxi

Anyway, the ride up to Ighrem turned out to be pretty nice, scenery wise. Great views over the Atlas, Anti Atlas and Souss Massa valley

It wasn't far off dusk when I arrived in Ighrem

I stayed at Hotel Anzal for the night. It was cheap but not particularly cheerful

Hotel Anzal is in the town centre. I've read that the other hotel, half a km back towards Taroudant is better, but I didn't check it out

I noted that there is at least one bank with an ATM in town

I had a wander around Ighrem the next morning, it's kind of interesting but not that spectacular

It felt not exactly unfriendly but not exactly friendly either

In short, it's the kind of place I don't think I'll be rushing back to anytime soon

Anyway, next morning was the embarrassing part. I just kind of wanted to get out of Ighrem ASAP and get on my way to Tafraoute by grande taxi, or whatever means as soon as possible

I allowed myself to be duped and / or coerced by the guy in charge of the grande taxis, in collusion with the staff at Hotel Anzal into believing the only viable option was go by grande taxi via Ighrem - Inzegane - Tiznit - Tafraoute, which is, of course, an enormously long and indirect route

If I was a bit being a bit more rational that morning, I would have just tried to hitchhike to Tafraoute

I'm sure it would have been easy

But I just wanted to get the hell out of Ighrem quickly

So I ended up going the long way round via Inzegane

The taxi driver to Inzegane was one of those dangerous and reckless ones, talking on his phone most of the time as we hammered down the road out of the mountains at break neck speed

The scenery on the way was pretty awesome though and I'd also found out that grande taxis do ply directly between Ighrem and Inzegane

I arrived later that afternoon in Tafraoute roughly 5 hours, 150 Dh and 300 kms worse off
