Heu guy's,
I will be leaving now next week for Marrakesh. I am still hoping to go to Imlil. As I am travelling solo it has began to worry me a bit that there will be little tourists around and I guess im just wondering would I be safe or totally taking a risk going by myself?Planning to stay 2 nights in Imlil doing a few easy treks both days.

...... "im just wondering would I be safe or totally taking a risk going by myself?" .. and what do you think might happen to you.?.... chained and beaten and sold into slavery perhaps.

Do a little research on this link and see how you get on..... http://www.imlil.org/

How to get there using public transport: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g293730-i9195-k7487159-Imlil_to_setti_Fatima_trek_walk-Morocco.html

You can get a map of the area from the foyer of Hotel Ali on the edge of Djemaa el Fna in Marrakech (great exchange rates as well).

If you are afraid, why are you going there ?
Morocco is safe, people are friendly. You can go there without stress.
You can use public transports as indicated above.

Hiking in Imlil is safe. After all, most of the population lives from tourism there, they would not accept that hikers would be mugged.
On the other end, no, Morocco is not extremely safe everywhere, i was once attacked by youths with knives when hiking near Azrou. But that's not in the High Atlas, which i think is very safe.

Thanks very much for the reply.I understand that you can't be totally safe in any country of course and you always need to be aware of your surroundings.I'm just glad to know I probably won't go missing in the mountains :)

cheers
