Driving from Marrakech to Ouarzazate in early January

Essalamu Alaykum!

My family and I are taking a road trip from Casblanca to M'Hamid in early January. I am worried the road from Marrakech to Ouarzazate may be closed or really hazardous at this time of year. Has anyone had any experience on that road in the winter? Is it likely to be passable? We would really like to drive ourselves (actually some Moroccan friends of ours will be doing the actual driving) so we can stop and enjoy the scenery and take pictures and stuff along the way. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've never seen much snow on either pass in January. Main roads like that get cleared, anyway.
