We were thinking we would like to be in Morocco this Christmas. We were wondering what the weather would be like? Will we be able to swim?

Hi;
The Atlantic gales will mix up the water making it a bit chilly.
There will also be a heavy surf if a storm blows up!

It is unlikely to be swimming weather in Morocco, although it is usually short sleeve weather! I spent Christmas day in Rabat a couple of years ago, and the following days in Marrakech - Rabat was sweater weather, unfortunately (though we did sit outside most of the afternoon) but in Marrakech I bared my arms it was so beautiful out!

Realize that hardly anyone celebrates Christmas in Morocco, but most upscale hotels do put up decorations for tourists. Everything is open, which is nice, and you will see some creepy looking Papa Noels about town.

The balloon ones are the creepiest, IMO.

Two years ago at the fair in Fes you could dress up as Santa and have your photo taken - complete with a pink plastic mask to make you look European... only in Morocco.

And I love the inflatable Santas, especially when they're still on sale at New Year.

Over Christmas the weather was lovely this year. In the south it was idyllic almost till the end of January. It was certainly warm enough out the water to swim down there if you were brave.

Heading more south always increase the chances of warm weather and good conditions for a lovely swim I would recommend Agadir only during this period because it gets too crowded in the summer.

If its to cold to swim for you blood you can always wear short sleeves and go skiing outside of Marrakech. How many people get to say they went snowboarding in AFRICA.

just a thought!
