Hi,

I will be trekking in the Atlas Mountains in a few weeks. My tentative plan is to walk from Tachddirt to Setti Fatma, then find transit from there to Ouarzazate and spend a day or two in the Sahara (or pre-Sahara, as it were).

Is there any way to get from Setti Fatma to Ourazazate without doubling back to Marrakesh?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you have any other trekking suggestions, that would be helpful, too.

Thanks.

As you can see, the road goes to Marrakech. It must be a two day hike from Setti Fatma to the N 9 where you could pick up the bus.

You could do it the other way, take a grand taxi to Setti Fatma, hike to Imlil then go via Aoulouz to Ouazazarte. You pick the bus up at Asni about 11 am (over the Tizi n Test) then there's a bus at 7.30 am to Ouazazarte from Aoulouz, arriving about 11 am. You could always take grand taxis when you arrive in Aoulouz (about 4 pm?) but it might be slow getting from Taliouine (hotels) to Tazenakht. It would be easier to do Setti Fatma/Marrakech/Ouazazarte in a day but the Tizi n Test in spectacular and you get to see some of the Anti Atlas the other way. Depends how much time you have.

Its better to go this road: Setti Fatma/ Marrakech/Ouarzazate. Settif Fatma /Marrakech is 25 dhs in a shared Taxi. There are few buses linking Marrakech to Ouarzazate , its about 4 hours . The tatal journey will take about 6 hours.
The alternative is going via Tizin'test , for this go to Tahnaoute and take the bus coming from Marrakech and leaving to Taliouine.( no need to go to Asni). and another bus to Ouarzazate. Tizin'test is pectacular yet a pain especially to go to Ouarzazate
