I'm leaving for a trek through the High Atlas range in two weeks, for a mountain trek of about 8 days (depending on the weather), with the Toubkal as height (in any means of the word) of the journey

I've read up alot already, but wanted to hear some first-hand experiences where possible.

What to expect ?
Any good tips ?

How about the weather ?
And height/mountain sickness ? We'll be ranging from 2000-4000 metres

All pointers are welcome

thanks and cheers!

Hello Doler

I've just returned from a couple of weeks in Morocco including 7 days on the Toubkal circuit and climb

Weather: We had clear and hot weather for the entire circuit, although the summit was cloudy the day after we went up, so hope you get good views.

Altitude: I had a couple of mild headaches and some loss of appetite above 3000m, but no-one had any real problems.

Tips: Halfway around is the village of Amsouzart. With a couple of hours notice you will be able to use the Village hamman for 20 dirham. Hot water after two days washing in a mountain stream!!

Don't forget your swimwear for a dip at Lac D'Ifni.

As ever, cover up in the Berber villages and learn a few arabic greetings and you'll have a great time.

Enjoy!!

Christian
