Hi Folks,
I am leaving to Morocco in a couple of days, it is certainly not the first time i go to Al Maghreb (My wife is from origine Moroccan),
but it will be the first time I go backpacking there. Normally I visit her family in Khemisset (between Rabat en Meknes) or Cassablanca.
We will arrive in Cassablanca by airplane, we are planning to stay the day in Casa and than take the nighttrain in the direction to Chefchaouen. I don't know what to do best, as i was several times in Tanger and don't really like the city, maybe it is better to get off the train somewhere else and take the bus to Chefchaouen from there (can anybody reccomend another city to get off?? what is word visting for a few houres with busses to Chefchaouen??).
We are planning to stay a couple of days in Chef, and than go back south heading to Marrakesh with a few stops (maybe Meknes, Vollubillis?), We are planning to spend some time in Marrakesh but if anyone have good suggestions for other cities to visit, please share them with me ; )... Anyway at the end we must return to casa to get the plane.
Anyone who have good tips for Cities I can visit?(Chef. & Mara. are certain) Low budget hotels (who are not to dirty?)?
Thx in advance!!

Hi
I recommend strongly to visit Fez and its region (Sefrou, Ifran ,Azrou) aswell as the neighbouring thermals spas (Sidi hazem and moulay Yaakoob)
nice trip

can I get the bus from Assilah to Chefchaouen
And does it have a frequent connection with it? cause i will arrive there at 7 o clock in the morning as take the nighttrain from Casa...

It's not easy to get to Chefchaouen from Casa without going through Tangier. Personally, I would just take the train to Tangier then immediately hop in a grand taxi to Chefchaouen - or, alternatively, you could take the train to Tangier with the bus connection to Tetouan then get to Chefchaouen from there (Tetouan is quieter than Tangier, and much less of a hassle).
I don't know of a bus from Asilah to Chefchaouen, but you could certainly take a grand taxi that way.
Another possibility is reversing your trip a bit - if you take the train from Casa to Fez, you can then take the comfortable CTM bus to Chefchaouen and back. Then visit Fez, Meknes, and other surrounding areas that interest you (Volubilis, Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, Sefrou, Azrou, Ifrane, Moulay Yacoub - all interesting!)
You can then take the train on to Marrakech, of course.
Bon voyage!

Thx for the information!
Do you think I better spend the night in Fez or Meknes (are there good low budget hotels?) before heading for Marrakesh?
Or can I do the trip Chef. with a stop in Meknes to visit Volubillis and than to Marrakesh in one day?
And are there some places to sleep you can reccomend in Marrakesh and/or Meknes?
