Hello -

Two of us will be traveling from Barcelona to Morocco, then to Paris for a return to the States. We have Monday - Friday at this point. What would you recommend? Should we try to visit 2 cities - Fez and something on the coast, or just one? Other ideas, suggestions for books, hotels, etc all welcome. Thanks!

It'll be early April that we're there.

Fes is more than enough otherwise Meknes can be reached easily by train.
Don't go to the coast.
Reading a guidebook can be a first good idea.
No need to book your accommodations in advance according you have no specific place in mind.

In Fes you have to do in all 4 days. You can make a day trip to Meknes, Moulay Idriss and Volubilis and also on the other site of Fes you can go to Sefrou and Bhalil with cave houses.
Don't loose time while traveling to the coast.

We travel because we need to. Because the distance and difference are the secret tonics to the creativity. When we get home, home is still the same, but something in our minds has changed, and that changes everything.
