Hi all,

I need your help to to figure out just how slow taxi-brousses really are.

Would you give me some random examples of how long it took you from one place to another by taxi-brousse?
I haven't made up my mind where exactly I wanna go - except for the flight in and out of Tana ;-)
Basically trying to get a feel about how far I could reasonably travel in one day... and thus in 3 weeks...

Thanks!

Hello,

Just interested in a bit of info. I am finalising my itinerary and will be arriving in Sambava on a flight from Maroantsetra. from here I will head to Marojejy to hopefully summit the peak, weather permitting. Afterwards I want to get to Ankarana as soon as possible, but via Daraina reserve to see the sifakas and possibly wild aye ayes if we are lucky. Is it easy to find a 4x4 to hire in Sambava that would take us to Ankarana over the course of two days with a stopover in Daraina. Does…

I'm planning my Madagascar itinerary and ask for your assistance re Ankarana National Park and Tsingy de Bemaraha; are both sites similar or different? While Ankarana National Park is in north Madagascar, relatively easy approached and near other sites, the Tsingy de Bemaraha is slightly isolated and requires 4 days and a return flight, does it worth it?

Tnx
Amnonami

Me and my girlfriend arrived at Madagascar with no real plan, so we were happy to find two girls at the airport that had one, and showed us to their agent.
We asked the agent if we could join their itinerary, and he said that we can. There was another couple that meant to join us, so we asked twice: "can all 6 of us fit in the car?", so Jobi said it was a 9 seat car, and we believed him.
We were supposed to get to Morondava, but there was no room on the plane, so Jobi offered to drive us there…

We will stay at Vakona Lodge for one night.

Just wonder is it possible to do both Andasibe and Mantadia over 2 days 1 night. Someone said it is impossible as Vakona is not close to Mantadia.

How can we find a guide once arrive at Vakona?

Ambatoloaka and its Bay (on Nosy Be)

The village of Ambatoloaka now extends from the middle of Ambatoloaka Bay (near the 4-star Royal Beach Hotel) southward to the Hotel Gerard et Francine. Going between the Village's only surfaced road and the beach is challenging due to the typical lack of access between fenced beach-front properties. The Village ATM (Visa and MasterCard only) is next to the parking lot and police post on the paved road and there's a small supermarket (Big Bazar) between…

Hi again,
I'll be visiting Madagascar for 3 1/2weeks (October) and would love to spend time visiting communities and projects that are more permaculture/ enviro/ spiritually oriented. I have lived in an intentional community for a year here in Aus and love working hard and learning about and from the land.

Any ideas or suggestions?!?

Thanks so much for any help!

Hello!

My wife and I will be arrive in Madagascar sometime between the 13th and 20th Sept and will be in Ile Ste Marie near the end of that month.

From what I can gather you can see the humpback whales between July - Sept. I appreciate that you cannot categorically predict the movement of wildlife, but does anyone have any experience of whale watching this late? Is it likely you will still see any? Will tours still be ongoing at that time?

Cheers!

Wes

Lemur Park Tana

I have one afternoon in Tana and was informed there is not much to see there. So I plan to walk around for an hour or two and make a quick trip to the Lemur centre which is 45 minute drive from the city. Is this doable? How much time do you need for that park/centre? I usually don't need much time. In any case, is it worth it as I will travel through the country for more than a week and will probably see lemurs in the parks I will visit?
