Has anyone any any experience with Chase ATM (debit card) visa fees while in Madagascar, as to how much they charge for using Madagascar ATMS? Also, has anyone just Western Unioned themselves money and went to a BVF or BNI to pick it up?
With regard to the visa at the airport, any idea as to what is the general wait time from the plane to obtaining the visa?

i was wondering if any of you have diving experience diving around madagascar.......
if so where was the best spot you dived at?
also what is your experience with local dive operators?
besides diving as was wondering what other advantures activities can be done besides trekking.
I went once to costa rica and went white water rafting, canopying and paragliding.
any activities in these directions over in madagascar?

Myself and a group of 13 High School students are heading to Madagascar for a month from the 21st of November till the 20th of December. First of all, are there any foods or drinks that we should avoid eating? I have heard that Salads that have been washed are not recommended for consumption, likewise neither is ice that hasn't used filtered water.
Secondly, myself and my group only speak English, we will most likely be carrying a phrasebook, however I was wondering whether the language…

a place with some nice parties a bit of a night life....(especially for new year)
besides this the only place i have on my plannes now is Île Sainte-Marie where plan on going diving.
anyone got some suggestion on must see places??

this post to inform travellers to Madagascar that Travellers cheques cannot be converted, if you cannot present your passport (of course) and the purchasing receipt.
I have been asking in several banks such as Société Générale and Credit Agricole but none would accept them. There Ihave been some problems (they said).
I had this problème in Morondava and Majunga. I cannot tell for Tana

just wondering about 4 weeks travel in Madagascar. Travelling from the 16th of January by myself, i'm 28. Would love to dive with whale Sharks (am certified already) and see the fantastic wildlife and nature the country has to offer. Is this a good time to go? Are is it easy to get around? Where are the best places to go? Are there lots of people to meet?

I'm contemplating spending most of my vacation in Madagascar doing sea turtle surveys on the Barren Islands off the coast of Maintirano. Has anyone been to that area- and what is there to do nearby? It doesn't make the LP at all. It will be the rainy season, so I won't be able to travel far.
