Hi everyone,
I'll should normally arrive in Mauritius on March 21 and the next day will ferry to Madagascar. Does anyone out there know if the is a daily crossing between the 2 islands? Duration? Cost?
I'm landing in Mauritius due to a much cheaper flight (half price). I'm a solo female backpacker.
Thanks in advance. And whenever you are, have fun!
hi !

how is the situation regarding airport and the capital as i am goin tere in 10 days???
thanks
We're going as a family (2 adults, 2 children ages 11,13) to Mad in June and I'm finding the itinerary planning harder than usual because the books disagree (Lonely Planet, Bradt, and Globetrotter).
The question of the moment is whether or not to go to Ft. Dauphin and Berenty Reserve. While Berenty Reserve might be a great experience for the kids, my tendency is not to go there because it seems contrived and I'm annoyed that you have to stay in their hotels to go there.
Also, it sounds like…
I would like to hire a 4x4 and driver to travel from Fort Dauphin to Vangaindro on the east coast RN12a in early June and would like some advice.
1 - Is this trip possible?
2 - How long will it take?
3 - What accommodation is available en route and where is it located?
4 - Can you propose a contact in Fort Dauphin who may be able to help me with this?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
So, how much is it? I'll travel low budget, won't sleep in fancy hotels or anything. But still i don't want to have to look on every cent and eat rice every day. I'll travel around, go to national parks, maybe snorkling, buy some souvenirs, etc. I'd just like to get a picture of approximately how much money will i need. Can i get away with 500€? Probably not, huh? What about 700? 1000 is my maximum, i can't posiibly afford more. Thank you :)
Hello,
could someone please assist me with email contacts/addresses (NOT WEBSITES) of hotels in MORONDAVA.
Tried some, which I found in the fairly recent BRADT's guide-book, but ALL of them were incorrect and returned by the POSTMASTER GENERAL.
The newest AFRICA-Version of LP has a sml MADA-Section in it. However, it's very outdated and still has, amongst others, MALAGASY FRANCS conversions. (Old book in a NEW COVER).
Got on to WEBSITES of MORONDAVA-Hotels. (CHEZ MAGGIE, BOABAB CAFEE, RENALA DU…
Can anyone advise whether or not one should visit Madagascar in late March? This is the only time I can go but if it will be raining non-stop and very hard to get around, I'll go somewhere else instead. Is there a part of the island that will be pleasant the last 10 days in March? Thanks!
I'm suggesting a tour guide speaking French, Italian and English, specialized in the southern center of Madagascar. She's a Malagasy girl, name Jacquette, qualified and with good interpersonal skills.
