At the end of my trip down NR7 I have one day/night there before an early morning flight to Morondava. Any recommendations for a budget or medium cost hotel in town? I know there are some beaches nearby but a 5:30am flight so need something close to the airport. Thx

hi,

i will mostly be traveling in the north with my son who lives near sambava, but i have a few days to explore Tsingy de Bemaraha/Morondova on my own and it is looking like it will be hard to make plans for just one person. anybody going at that time that i can join? i'm an older woman, but fit and have lots of mountaineering experience; very comfortable with rugged travel.

or, if you know of a driver/guide who is willing to go for a reasonable price, please let me know.

thanks!

Dear all

I am going to travel to Madagascar for 5 - 7 weeks. I would like to travel independent and use local transport (maybe 1 or 2 domestic flights for the longer distances or to go back to Tana) and local boats on the river.. I find it hard to plan the itineary and define the route as there are so many things to see and do... Do you have suggestions for the itineary? Any recommendations for excursions, treks, Nationalparks that shouldn't be missed? I am very interested in nature (incl…

It has been suggested to me to go to Anjozorobe for forests/wildlife, including Indri, rather than Andasibe/Perinet. Has anyone been to both and is able to give an opinion please and whether Indri are easily seen at Anjozorobe.

Also whether wildlife viewing and forest walks would be as good in the Tsaranoro Valley as Ranamafana forest.

many thanks

Hello

We are considering a trip to the Fort Dauphin area in September/ October. After the essential wildlife viewing, we would like to relax on the beach for a few days.

My question is - are the beaches around Fort Dauphin suitable for a few days of sunbathing and swimming? I understand there is some good surfing in the area, but we just want to relax. Libanona beach looks nice - would that be Ok?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

I will be travelling in Madagascar for about 4-6 weeks and have read that food is not always cheap.

How much would I need to foresee on food and local guides ?

Thank you all for your feedback.

greetings from Belgium,
Hilde

I am hoping to find a car and driver in Toliara to travel up highway 7 to Antanarivo beginning March 26th for 9-10 days. The driver will need to speak reasonably understandable english as my french is very poor. Can anyone recommend any drivers and their contact information that i can check? Is it possible to take a return car that has come the otherway down the highway and is going back empty? If so where would be a good place to check for availability?

Hoping to visit Isalo, Anja Reserve and…

Hi all,

I'm quickly planning a last-minute trip in March to visit a friend who has just moved to Tana. I don't have much time, unfortunately, but would like to pack as much in as possible - without feeling like I'm on the road all the time. Do you have any suggestions to improve the itinerary I loosely have in mind, below?

Saturday: Arrive at noon in Tana.
Sunday – Monday: Fly to Tulear Sunday morning. Stay in Ifaty? Mangilly? Anakao? (would like nice sandy beach, but am also interested in the…

How easy is it for a foreigner to find developmental/NGO work in Madagascar?

I hope to work for several months in Madagascar starting September or so. I am a native speaker of English, but don't speak Malagasy or French. I have a 4-year college degree in international development and environmental studies, but very little work experience. I'd be willing to work unpaid if necessary.

Could anyone help me find positions in Madagascar? Any suggestions greatly appreciated! Cheers, Lukas.
