In 2 weeks time I'll be in Madagascar for 1 month.

I m planning to trek from Maroantsetra to Cap Est (5 days)..I have seen some of the prices on the national park website and some others on this forum; being on my own, I was wondering what is the best way to organise the trek (also to reduce the costs)..directly from the Park office or from an agency in town? (probably more expensive, but perhaps able to join a small group together).

I will be in Madagascar from October 14 to 27, arriving at Antananarivo and flying out of Nosy Be.
I would love to visit Andasibe, Antsirabe, Morondava/Allee des Baobabs, Tsingy de Bemaraha and NosyBe if possible.
Anyone with the same/similar itinerary who wants to team up?
Any recommendations regarding time to spend at each place, organising the trip to Tsingy de Bemaraha (public transport to Bekopapa and then hire a 4WD/join a group/... or book a trip from Morondava,...).
Any advice…

Hi, guys

I am going to mada soon, and already in contact with both rental car agent and tour agent. The rental car price is actually higher than getting a driver, about 50 Euro per day for a full size sedan.

What do you guys think about price, can it be lower?

If I drive my self, do you think I should take a guide, if so, anyone have a good guide to recommend?

We did the following with Cactus tours madagascar which were brilliant (booked from UK)

Just got back from madagascar on saturday and suitcase is still half unpacked in my front room.

Just found a catterpillar walk across my floor that looks a bit more exotic than usual uk catterpillars. Its about 1 1/2 inch long, hairy and looks a bit like the ones that I saw in madagascar. Very pretty.

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. Do catterpillars exist like this in the uk? I'm a bit niave about UK wildlife. Don't want to put it outside incase it might cause…

I'm going to try and use frequent flyer miles to fly into Madagascar then fly home from Zambia or Malawi. I would need to buy the flight to Jo'burg. Is it worth buying the ticket once I'm in Antan... or is it about the same price to buy it online ahead of time? And, if it cheaper and/or more flexible (I'd be traveling next June) to buy it once there, is it possible to arrive there without an onward ticket?

My wife and I are thinking of visiting Madagascar for about two weeks over the Christmas break. We are looking at traveling December 18th through January 2nd. However, I read mixed information about the accessibility of the country due to weather, such that it depends on where one is due to the scale of the island and its varied elevation.

Could some people advise whether it is a good idea to go to Madagascar this time? If so, what parts of the country would be most pleasant to visit in…
