Hi all.

I will visit Madagascar from Feb 20th to March 1st 2011 and will like to go diving if posible. Any recomendations?

My plan so far is to rent a 4x4 with a driver and go south to Toliana area with stops on the way. Two dqays diving and a fligth back to Tana. Is it posible to find on arrival a driver and to share a ride south? Anybody interest?

Plan B is to fight to Nossy Be. Can you dive on this time of the year. Any recomendations regarding Dive shop and/or place to stay.

Thanks

Carlos

Hello,
Feb to March it the rain season in Madagascar so i think you are right if you plan to dry area as south of Madagascar and you can do it step by step but you don’t need to hire 4x4, it’s good road so just hire 2WD it’s fine. I don’t have idea to find the driver on arrival but you can find it on net.
About the diving site why not in Ifaty or Anakao, you are right too if you plan to fly to Nosy Be.
Good luck!!!

Hi,

Season rain is just in Tana and Fianar, actually no rain in the coat as Tuléar and NosyBe.

So you can rent 4x4 but 2 days is not any I think for Tuléar.

Have a fun.

Hello Carlos

That sounds really nice.

We went to Madagascar in the summer of 2010 and stayed a couple of nights at Hotel de la Plage.
This was a great experience & here you have the possibility to dive. The owners organize diving excursions. There is a nice reef a couple of 100 metres from the shore.

Due to bad road conditions at the time, the trip to Ifaty from Tulear took around 4 hours (you really need a 4x4). But it was worth it.
The Ifaty-Mangily area is really lovely.

Regarding Nosy Be we do not have any experience, but it seems a nice destination.
We went to Ile Ste Marie to do some whale watching instead. (incredible!)

While being on the road for 2 days, the best national parks (we believe) to visit are:
- Isalo
- Ranomafana

And if you have some spare time; the train trip between Manakara and Fianarantsoa has been one of the greatest experiences in Madagascar (but you really need time ;-)

Good luck organizing your stay in this beautiful country!

HI all:

I've now decided to rent a 4x4 and drive south on Feb 22. I will stop on the way at interesting parks, sites and hope to reach Toliary by Feb 25 for a 2 days dive.

Any tips regarding where to stay and a good dive shop?

Tks

Carlos
