We are interested in maybe doing the river trip and then up to the Masaloa Peninsula after.
Wondering how the weather and scenery will be at this time of year.

Also, years ago we went to Mada and had a great time but could not make it to the river. I have read somewhere that it is now very crowded ('traffic jams of pirogues). Is this true ?? What a shame.

indeed, he's been spamming other posts as well.

to answer you question, JW, end of November is the start of the rainy season in this region of Madagascar (Tsiribihina river)., so better go before that. I've heard of traffic jams, too (and littered sand banks with human waste), but that was in Juli/August, when there's European summer holidays and plenty of French visit the island. I suppose later on, and just before December when the next wave of holiday makers arrive, it's quite the Zen experience discribed in the lp 2008.

I'm heading there in a few days, so my infos come from extensive internet research, not my own experience.

Happy travels
