Charting Change in Madagascar http://nyti.ms/YpH1lB [nyti.ms/YpH1lB]

Those of you who are lucky to be here in Mid Dec when the Lychee season is at its sweetest can buy
tourist price of one kilo of lychees for one Euro. Compared to the Lychees sent to Europe that are green and sulpherized and pay 12 Euros for one kilo.
I like many street merchants buy baskets of Lychees -- 15 kilos for about 5 euros per basket.
Here is a pic and short article about Lychee
Your text to linfreshplaza.com/article/127877/Madagascar-export-possibilities-for-lychees-in-South-Africa#.VCzUKPhq56U.twitter …k here...

Any one else out there with odd and end tidbits of information, feel free to post here.

For the past year there is a new way to get around town in more and of the larger towns.
Those of you have been to Asia have know them by the name Tuk Tuk. Here in Madagascar they are call
Bajaj. They are a three wheel taxi usually yellow in color, picture below.

Taxi prices have come down in price by almost 50% if there are Bajajs in that town.
So the new Taxi price for example around Mahajanga town is taxi 3,000ar, Bajaj price around town 600ar per person (tourist will pay 1,000ar per person or more depending on lost you appear ;-)) and pousse pousse ( rickshaw) 500ar. though pousse pousse is used to carry household items, rice, lumber, steel, cement, misc. And of course there is the community local bus line of 400ar-500ar around town and can cover greater distances for that price.

Heard new news that Bajaj is coming to Tana- Taxis will not like this. but if you see them then they are a good way to go, easier and faster ands less expensive to get around town, and they are fun to take and easier to take in the sights.
