I'm flying to Madagascar soon and want to travel overland between Tana and Tamatave. I only have 2 or 3 days to do this and was thinking to head straight from the airport to Andasibe to overnight and spend the next day in and around the area before continuing on to Tamatave.

Could you give me some advise on what the easiest way is to get a taxi from the airport to Andasibe (without having to go into Tana). I'm traveling alone and don't mind public transport, unless you suggest a private taxi and driver. Also, where is a good place to overnight in Andasibe? Can I travel from Andasibe to Tamatave in a day? (taxi-brousse or private taxi?)

Thanks and regards

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
It depend on what time you will be in Ivato but if the times permitting you can take a taxi from Ivato to Ambodivona where is the taxi brousse station to Moramanga then from here you can take taxi brousse to Andasibe, be aware you need at least 4 to 5 hours to join Andasibe.
Good luck!

Yes you can travel from Andasibe to Tamatave in a day. However getting a taxi-brousse in Andasibe is difficult and even if you back track to Moramanga you will probably have to wait a few hours to get a seat. This is because all the taxi-brousses emanate from Tana and they are usually full.

Hello Lisa,

I would advise you to rent a car with a driver to pick you up and drive you directly to Andasibe.

Then from Andasibe, it would be easier to get a taxi-brousse to Toamasina.
