Hi
Is the old railcar which goes once a week from Tana to Andasibe still running ?
What about the Fianarantsoa-Cote Est railway- who has been on that and is it worth it ?

I`ve just done that trip last week so about Railcar , it still running but for the Fianarantsoa Cote Est it always broke down!

Wait - Tana to Andasibe? Are you sure? or Moromanga to Andasibe? At Tana station, the story to me (2 weeks ago) was that even the private Micheline train wasn't running any more. Hery, if you have contacts fro this line, please provide them. Thanks!

I travelled on the Fianarantsoa - Manakara train about a year ago. Wonderful journey - tons of bridges, tunnels and waterfalls. Very slow, took about 15 hours. I bought the tickets a day in advance. I don't know if it is still running now.

You do really need to ask when you are there as things change sometimes fro day to day.

Train out of Fianar was running last Dec, took a long day, but I quiteenjoyed it. For a small fee, you could ride up front on the engine, I posted a quick vid of it:
