Is it necessary to take Malaria prophylaxis in Madagascar. I will be there for two weeks in October travelling through the central highlands, West and East.

As far as I know (including looking at the USA's CDC website from time to time over the years), malaria is present throughout the island.


Travel pics, many from Africa and Middle East/Central Asia.
The newest are from Algeria, South Korea and Taiwan.

Yeah, it's an absolute must. Im seeing a travel nurse on weds for the low down on all current recommended jabs (already got my malarone sorted). Sure u know whats needed but can give u a definitive list on thurs (tho sure it'll be the usual, rabies, hep a & b etc). Im going on 4th oct but trying to be organised

Yes it's a really good idea. Falciparum malaria is prevalent throughout the island.
