internet speed in provincial towns?

As I am heading to Mada soon I have a question concerning internet speed.

The last time I was in Mada I found it quite relaxing not to have access to internet in many towns. But this time I am thinking of changing my itinary in order to contact people who are waiting for my input.

The speed to internet has been quite good in Majunga, Tana, Tamatave the last time, but Fianaantsoa, Tulear and Manakara were very slow (same situation as in Europe in 1994 perhaps).
Has the speed to internet increased for these or any other southern city, or do Internet cafes have satellite access?

In majority of places connection is really poor, very often are some breaks etc.
Now there is many cybers but quantity do not mean quality...
Where would you like to use internet?
