First thing, thank you for your interest.
To make a long story short, we got the bag on Wednesday (4 days late) in Ile Sainte Marie.
It was stuck in Johannesburg, and got to Tana on the Air Madagascar on Tuesday. The following day it got to Ile Sainte Marie. Although Air Madagascar didn't know where the bag was, an Israeli company which handles all the relations of foreign airlines located us and updated us on Monday morning it was found. Because we were in Sainte-Marie, and I had some of her clothes, she only bought a bikini and flip flops, and we managed
Tips:
* File a claim immediately, and keep everything from the flight and complaint: the bag ticket (most important), your ticket numbers, the claim, and even the boarding passes from all your flights
* Go to a relaxing destination and don't start with trekking or things like that. You don't need the pressure
* Keep in contact with Air Madagascar. Don't let them forget you. A local sim will really help. Also try to contact anybody that can help you.
* Have someone at home helping you out with all the birucracy. It's very hard doing it on the road - my big brother was a life saver.
* Insist on being compensated - my girlfriend demanded a compensation so she could buy basic stuff until the bag arrives and got 100k AR.
* If you're traveling with a partner, split your stuff between both bags, so even if one bag doesn't arrive, you still have some stuff
* Pack as much as you can in your carry on bag, especially charges for all your gadgets (having a camera without a charger is only good for a day or two)
* Finally, take it easy. A lot of bags are late, but only a few get lost forever. You didn't pay a lot of money to go to the other side of the world to be bummed over a bag. Try to have fun
