Hi,
ive been in Mada for 2 weeks, currently in nosy be and am flying back to Tana this afternoon.
my current plan is to stay the night in Tana then head south to reserve d'anja (to see the so far surprisingly elusive ring tail lemur).
From there the plan is to head back up to Tana then over to Andisibe area parks for at least 3 days.
im fully aware that Ranomafana and Andringitra are kind of on the way (albeit off the RN7) but i just dont think i have enough time if im going to get back and have quality time at Andisibe.
Am i mad going all that way just for Reserve d'anja?
Also, please send me a direct message if u fancy joining me. Am open minded about changing the route although i won't consider missing out on andasibe, though could maybe cut a day out if necessary.
im 39, spent the 1st week travelling with a female i met here on thorn tree and wouldn't mind some company for the final week (have met very few backpackers in last week or so).
I'm planning on staying at Tana Jacaranda tonight before heading out to reserve d'anja very early tomorrow morning (around 5:30am) from Fasan'ny karana taxi-brousse station.

Hi

I travelled to the south and went to andrigitra, but never stopped off at anja. Anja seems like more of a place to go if you have time and it's on the way. But it really depends on what you want to see. Ranomafana is a beautiful rainforest, but definitely growing as a tourist town, it's no longer a hidden gem. Nonetheless if you have time you should still see it. Andasibe is quite close to Tana and can be easily visited as a day trip or a two night with ample viewing opportunity. Good luck on your trip!

Thanks jkvu. Mostly interested in anja for the ringtails, as i said above. Cant seem to get my head straight at the moment so am heading to Andasibe tomorrow now, stay til ive seen what i need to see, then see how much time i have left at the end.
Im flying out of tana at 1:20am on 26th so kinda made sense to do andasibe at the end (can head straight to airport from there) but seem incapable of making any kind of sensible decision right now! Lol

Hi. I was in Mada a month back. Unless you are really desperate tosee ring tails in a wild setting, then yes, I would say it's a little bit mad going to Anja! You will see lots of lemurs in Andasibe.

Please note that you can see ring tails at Vakona Lodge at Andasibe. They are not wild obviously and it is the wrong region to see them, but they are kept on an island in the middle of a lake. For a small fee, a guide will boat you around to them. This is not really my thing, but my girlfriend was desperate to see ring tails, and as we only went East/North/West, there was no way to see them in the wild. The compromise was seeing them here. I am quite firm in my views that animals are for the wild only, but the ring tails here seemed to be well looked after and at least had some space.
