Hi...

Just a quick but very important question.

Does anyone knows how it works with the 50% discount for the domestic flights in Madagascar? I am planning to flight via Paris with airmadagascar but I want from now buy also the tickets for the domestic flights. The international tickets I will buy it from my country from an agency or online (from an agency). Can I buy the domestic tickets from any touristic office or airmadagascar site and if yes where I can say that I have also the international ticket to have the discount?

Thanks for information and help.

From an agency in Madagascar they told me that to have the discount is better to buy all the tickets the same times. like this it is easier. But my flight is via paris and in my country i don't have air madagascar agent! If i buy separate the ticket to paris and then Paris -Madagascar it's much more expensive! It is not at all clear! If you have any info please help!

Hello,
if you provide the agency your confirmation number and ticket number of your international Air Madagascar, they can arrange you to get the discount on local flights.
Happy travels!

So to make the reservation for domestic flights via air madagascar site and get the discount is impossible because they don't ask for a confirmation number or a ticket number. Right? Thanks Rashaja.

yeah. and to tell you the truth, the price of domestic flights on the Air Madagascar website are more expensive than regular prices. I don't know why it's this way, they should fix that.

This is a tip for all travellers, never book a domestic flight through their website. Sometimes it's 2 times more expensive.

I'll extend Rashaja's advice to include never book any flight at all, domestic or international, from Air Madagascar's website - the main reason why it's more expensive is because the handling has been outsourced to an upmarket French travel agency, which at least gives the impression of having something of a free hand in deciding what its cut is going to be, and therefore what price it's going to charge the customer..

Not only can you not get the domestic discount if you book using this system, the prices quoted are, as Rashaja say, vastly more expensive. I must admit to wondering if Air Madagascar itself doesn't quote higher prices to the agency so that it recoups the amount it has to pay in commission - but of course that is pure speculation.

Methods which I have used and which work very well include:

Telephone bookings via the Air Mad Paris Call Centre - the phone number: +33 (0) 892 701 819

Using an authorised agent from the list you can access via the links More about us / our points of sales on the Air Mad website. As all tickets are now e-tickets, if you're using a credit card, the authorised agent you use doesn't need to be in your own country. I have had excellent results from Aviareps, the agent in München/Munich in Germany, who have often quoted me a price cheaper than Air Madagascar's own call centre in Paris. Their number is: +49 89 55 25 33 15 (the number on the website has an extra "5", but this is a typing error).

You can communicate with these people in English. Both will ask you to fax them a copy of both sides of your credit card, which I have done many times without having problems down the line.

A third method I use that is not available to you is to get friends inside the country to book my domestic flights for me. The reason I mention this is that the prices they get charged - without any mention of a long-haul flight - have usually been within a couple of euros of the discounted price you get when you book in Europe - which, to say the least, throws an interesting light on Air Mad's current pricing policy.

Good luck!

Hi. I wanted to do the same thing but even from abroad. I used the Air Madagascar Paris sales office and booked all the flights (incl. domestic) in one package, all by the internet only (it appeared to be the only way for me to get the discount) - everything went all right and I had no problem with my tickets.

Yet, be very carefull and conservative when booking for your connecting flight from Paris when coming back. The Air Madagascar international flights seem to be always very late and I very nearly missed my connection having "just" five hours available for changing planes,

I have been to Madagascar in June/July 2010 and put a very detailed trip report on the internet where you can also find details about my experience with Air Madagascar - if interested check it out at.. my site .

Good luck.

Also if you end up booking an Air Madagascar flight while you are in Madagascar there are some discounts available for married couples. I believe they get a 50% discount!

You might need to be a resident though? If anybody knows please do tell.
