Hi
I am flying into Nairobi on the 8th of February next year and leaving again on the 16th of February. The main reason is to go on a safari. Do you think it is worth spending a full day in Nairobi first or would you rather head off straight away?
Thanks for any info
Hi there,
I'm travelling solo from 29/8/07 for 1 month in & out of Nairobi & would like to team up with others for safari/travel. I prefer to go cheap & cheerful.
I would like to check out the Masai Mara from Nairobi.
I also wish to travel to Tanzania & hopefully get to Ngorongoro Crater & Olduvai, onto Moshi then Zanzibar back to Nairobi. However, nothing is set in concrete & I'm open to suggestions on itinerary.
If your interested please let me know.
Thanks
Samma
Has anyone been on Mt. Kenya recently? I understand it has been raining a lot and quite cold recently in the area (unusually so for this time of year) so I was wondering whetherer there is a lot of snow/ ice on the summit and whether it is considerably safe to go...?
Can anyone comment?
Also I understand the summit (Pt. Lenana) is somewhat more difficult than it used to be 10 years ago (when I did the peak the last time) as some rock broke off making the last few meters more exposed. True?
Thanks…

Hi I have 3 weeks in Nairobi working at Nairobi hospital.
1) Anyone stayed in a backpacker near nairobi or kenyatta hospital? What was the name? Are there single rooms or anywhere safe for me to leave a laptop etc during the day? How much?
2) Anyone stayed in a homestay in near those hospitals and how much for 3 weeks? I dont feel that using google to find a homestay in nairobi is the most sensible…
I am in Kenya right now on vacation and to meet my girlfriends parents while I am here for three and half weeks. I was supposed to go on safari at the maasai mara today 08/13 but got really sick over the weekend and cancelled...I am feeling much better now but do not know what to do for the rest of the week as i go to safari next week and visit my girlfriends family in the country the next week. I was thinking of volunteering in any organization based in Nairobi because I am here now for the…
Hey everyone,
Having just done this, I have a bit of info. on transport out of here through Kenya.
Firstly, crossing the border is quite easy. Only one checkpoint on each side. I actually overstayed my Ethiopian visa by one day and got a LOT of hassle, but was eventually allowed through, so just a heads up. Kenyan visas can be bought very easily for $50.00 for a 3-month stay.
Onward Kenyan transport leaves between 0930hrs and 1000hrs. Trucks to Marsabit cost KSh400-500 (incl. luggage - make sure…
We are going to Kenya in December and want to do a safari. I was all set on pre-booking the safari since it's high season and I don't want to end up having to get a really expensive one once we get to Africa. BUT now we've talked to a girl who's been to Kenya, and she thinks it absolutely unnecessary to pre-book. She says that it is easy to find a tour operator at a cheap price in Nairobi, and that we can basically hire our own guide anywhere. She's never been there in high season though... What…
Hi there!
My fiancé and I are planning a trip to Kenya and Tanzania in November.. First of all, is this an ok time to go there? We have around 2 weeks to spend all together. Is that enough? We would also like to go to the beach as well. And, do you have any companies that you would recommend for the safaris? Some that do not cost an arm and a leg.. Or do they mostly cost about the same? Thank you for your tips!!! c",)
Does anyone know if the Nairobi airport is open all night? I am arriving Nairobi late evening and I have an early flight the next morning. I am hoping to spend the night in the airport, but I am worried it might close...
Thanks!
