I like to be prepared when i arrive into a new country, so it's nice to know in advance what we have to do to make it to our hotel especially when we are arriving at 9:00 at night. Can anyone tell me where the ATM is in the airport is it difficult to find and if it uses visa. how do we find a taxi, which companies are reliable. I think we will be staying at the Downtown hotel so how much should the cab fare be?
is there anything else i can expect to make it to my hotel?
thanks
Hi,
I've exchanged emails with a company called Sana Trekking about a 4 day/5 night trip up Mount Kenya via Sirimon. They seem really helpful but want a 30% advance deposit by bank transfer before I go. This seems reasonable but I'm worried about handing over the cash without a contract/ meeting them.
Can anyone advise whether or not this is sensible? They've quoted us $425 per person.
We're planning to leave on Aug 29th if anyone else wants to join!
thanks.

(2) Kenor Safaris - www.kenor-safaris.com<BR>

is anybody out there who can suggest a cheap place to stay? we do not want to pay much but at the same time we want a safe, clean and good value for money place.
we do not mind if it is not facing the beach. we heard about tiwi but we would like to try somewhere different. has anybody heard about kikambala?

Hi Everyone,
I'll be living and working in Kisumu for the next 7 months and am looking for rental accomodation in Kisumu. The papers don't list anything and I'm new to town so I'm not sure where to start my search. I"m on my own, so don't need a huge place (so an appartment is ok), but it has to be secure and have at least some modern conveniences - furnished would be a plus. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Hi,
My girlfriend and I are looking to start a safari through Kenya as soon as possible (as early as tomorrow!) and figured we'd give the thorntree a try to see if any others out there are looking to fill their group or to join us. We would prefer a five day or so journey that takes in Lake Nukuru, Maasai Mara, Amboseli etc but we're up for pretty much anything and just keen to get out of Nairobi and see some of Kenya. People are quoting 90 US per day right now if it's just the two of us and we…
I'll be in Kenya for the month in Sept. First time. Doing public health. I live in the States.
Do US cards work in the ATMs? How hard is it to find access to internet? In general, are connections good enough to upload text and pictures? What kind of connector does Kenya have for electric outlets? Most of my time will be in Machakos region (Eastern Province) in the bush, only a little in Nairobi. Will cars there have cigarette lighter connectors, so I can recharge electronics from the…
I am going to Kenya with my husband in December and will meet up with our daughter who is volunteering there for 3 months. We all want to go on at least one safari. I have had to have my whole colon removed due to Inflammatory Bowel Disease. I do very well, however, I do have to have access to a bathroom, particularly in the eve/nights and mornings. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what safari might be best suited for someone with my needs? I do not need plush, by any means, but I DO…
Can anyone recommend a good budget safari company in Nairobi? I had been thinking of using Nairobi Backpackers(I stayed with them last year, found the place was great, didn't do a safari though) but their trips seem to be getting very bad reviews lately. Any thoughts/opinions?
ok so im going to kenya in two weeks only found out a few weeks ago so been hurry round, so its kinda to late to get my visa (remote australia, 3 days postage each way, 1-5 day proccessing) so im guessing i will have to get a visa on arrival, so just a couple of questions.
1: how strict is immigration, i plan to dress smart casual (button up shirt, clean jeans, clean skate shoes), and i will have the proof of funds, but they can still refuse my entry if they want, so is there anything else i can…
