Hi,
I'm going to Kenya and Uganda in the end of September. I fly into Nairobi on a Wednesday night, but have to be in Kampala by late evening Sunday.
I suppose it's a shame not experiencing a safari in Kenya, but travelling on my own on a very tight budget and limited time, i suppose I don't really have any options.
So as for alternatives, does anyone have any suggestings on what's worth doing on my route instead?
I'll be staying for Kampala around 5-6 days for educational pruposes, but have a…
My 29 yo daughter is visiting Kenya for about a week in Nov/Dec, and is very interested checking out the local music scene - music with an African emphasis.
Any suggestions of inexpensive venues to check out?
Can I just take the local buses from Nairobi to Amboseli..... and arrange a guide when I'm at Amboseli....
or is this case to customize an intinerary with a safari agency out of Nairobi?
When we get to Arusha...we will be doing a safari through the Serengeti.
What will Amboseli be like in March (animal wise)??
Thanks for any tips,
Karen
We will be in Kenya and Tanzania in Late Feb - March 2007.
As I read all the information... the best place to safari is in Tanzania during that month (MARCH).
~ we will do a 4 day safari (bloody expensive in Tanzania it seems)
Would you recommend also spending time in Kenya in places like Amboseli NP or Lake Nakuru. I'm imagining the Masai Mara would be a bit of a repeat of the Serengeti????
Would you do Kenya before or after Tanzania's experience.
Thanks,
Karen
Hey All.
Our first stop in our 5.5 week trip will be in Lamu (fly from Nairobi). I figure I have about 1 week to spend in Lamu.
Is 7 nights too much to spend in Lamu.... for the 200 USD airticket (round trip).. I want to make sure I spend some time there.
should we try to combine it with Watamu (I could fly into Lamu and out of Malindi)?? but I hear overland from Lamu to Malindi is hell.
Thanks for any thoughts.

About 2 months ago there was an inquiry about the Intrepid/Guerba camping safari following the above intinerary. Well I have just returned and offer the following comments:
1- Samburu really exceeded all expectations - great lions and elephants - good range of other animals 4 of the big 5 (did not see rhino and only flashes of a leopard). The scenary was as much a high point as the animals;
2- Lake Nakuru - if you are into birds this is the place - 1.5 million flamingoes plus lions, white rhino…
I am thinking about starting a 5.5 week trip (IN LATE FEB - TO END OF MARCH) in Nairobi (spend a week doing ___)... then cruise down to Arusha (for a 3/4 night safari)... maybe trek (4 nights) in the Usambara mountains... spend at least a week in Zanzibar. Seems like I need to beef up my time in Kenya before heading to Tanzania.... what would you recommend for 1 week in Kenya before heading down to Tanzania. Lamu intrigues? Lake Turkana looks amazing...just lot out of the way.

I know it is pretty easy to get Visas in the Nairobi international airport. But is it as easy to get multi-point entry Visas? As I am traveling across Africa starting in Kenya and then returning to Kenya 5 months Later to Fly home again. I would much rather pay the $100 and get the multi point ranter than having to pay two lots of $50 as it just seems easier.
I have an Adult UK/EU passport.
Thank you.
Hi,
We are a french-american couple who will be in Nairobi from this Friday (24 July).
If possible, we'd like to join a group for a safari to Masai Mara (3-4 days).
We're on a budget, and trying to avoid paying a lot of money to an agency (but may end up with Nairobi Backpackers if can't find something independant)
If you don't mind us joining, please contact me directly via email ; jhomann@free.fr
Thanks!
