Does anyone know if the Bledisloe Cup will be playing at any of the bars/pubs around town? I know it's on DSTV at 12pm on Saturday, just don't know if there'll be a group of Aussies/Kiwis going somewhere to watch it.

I will be in Mombasa in early September for one week with a group of 4 others. I have a few contacts in Kenya who have made some enquiries into the cost of renting a car for the week. Seems a little expensive. I would like to get a sense of the price to use taxis instead. We will be staying on the North end of Diani beach and will likely head to Mombasa or beyond every day. Given our group size a van is probably better than a car.

Any thoughts as to what we should expect per trip and how easy…

I plan on taking a shuttle bus from Moshi to Nairobi - so I'd be arriving in Nairobi in the evening but then flying out the following afternoon.

I was wondering if the Terminal Hotel is near someplace where the shuttle buses stop in Nairobi? If not, can anyone recommend a hotel which would be convenient for the shuttle stop? (I think it stops right at Parkside Hotel?)

Does it matter which company's shuttle bus I take to Nairobi, or do they all stop at the same spots?

Thanks!

I'm headed for Kilimanjaro in January. Does anyone know about the typical weather for that time of year? When is high season? When is low season? Is is better to fly into Nairobi or Dar es Salaam? What is the current political situation in Kenya? Has it stabilized? Is it safe for travelers? What is a good long route on Kili? Any other useful info?

Hi, I am planning to go to the Camel Derby Aug 1-3rd, and am then interested in a quick 3-day trip up to Lake Turkana (leaving Maralal on the 4th). For 30,000 shillings (~US$450 or 286 euros), we can get a landrover and driver for the 3 days from Maralal (from a well-reviewed company), then we would cover meals and room for ourselves. The Landrover can take 2 passengers up front, and they said there's room for additional 3 folks in the back. So room for a total of 5 of us, and we could all…

I am looking to see the wildebeest migration in the Masai Mara in late July/early August. There are lots of tours to the Masai Mara, but I hear that very few actually take you to the Mara River, where supposedly most of the real action occurs. I am wondering if anyone knows of any good companies that do take you to the river (hopefully on a camping-level, budget safari)? I am also interested in travel companions for the trip!

Thanks,
Krista

I'm going to be in Nakuru through to the end of the year and would love to move out of the hotel I'm staying in. Finding a furnished place seems a much bigger challenge here than in Nairobi. Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for something with good security but don't need much space - 1 bedroom or even shared apartment or house would be great.

Thanks!

Hi all!

We're planning our trip to Kenya beginning of September (one week safari and one week of diving / sunbathing), and came across MICS Tours and Safari browsing on various other forums as a good choice to organize our first week.
Has anyone here used this company and could give us feedback on them? Good, bad, we'd just like to know if we can set our choice or if we need to keep looking.
For info, we're planning the following:
- 2 days in Masai Mara
- 2 days in Amboseli
- 2 days in Tsavo

I…
