I am currently working in Saudi Arabia I am planning a travel on September (one week-10 days). I am looking for both a travel partner and suggestions; I have defined an area I am interested in by making a rectangle in the Map. The Southwest corner is Kenya; Northwest corner is Turkey; Northeast corner is China and the Southeast corner is Thailand. Any country within this area I am willing to go. We are family of 5 with kids 7, 10 and 13 years old. We plan to travel to Kenya and Tanzania at the end of July and we still have 2-3 days to be planned. Does anybody have suggestion of some fine plan/place possible to be reached from Nairobi or Arusha in 3 days without spending another 1000 bucks a day per family? We already have planned to be in Masai Mara and later in Ngorongoro + Lake Maynara, so we look for something different. Will appreciate any advice!

I'm looking into spending some time in Eldoret in January, 2014, part of a paragliding trip, but can only find a few accommodations online, which are also pretty expensive (50 eur)/.

Is any one planning for a Safari from July 26 - July 28 to Maasai Mara.

I have found a tour operator that is quoting $420 per person. That includes entry fees, accommodation, transportation from Nairobi and meals. The tour operator requires a minimum of two people to go and maximum of 7-8. The operator has very good reviews on lonely planet and tripadvisor.

If any one is interested to go on a Safari in these dates please let me know!

I working on an itinerary to fly into and out of NBO in June and spend the next 30 days at coastal beach resorts in Kenya & Madagascar. It looks like Kenya Air from NBO is the best choice for getting to & from TNR, but I'm unsure as to where and how to proceed beyond that. I'm mainly interested in mid-range places and travel options without much drama.

Any suggestions?

So, Marsabit to nth horr is impractical, and Maralal Baragoi rd may be prone to banditry. Will I have better chance using any of these routes:
Marsabit to Kargi to Sth Horr;
Loglogo or Laisamis to South Horr; or
Wamba to Parsaloi to Baragoi (hoping to avoid bandits)
Where would be the best town to ask for advice? (Or do I just give up?!)

Presently weighing up the options for masaai mara. Will renting a car and doing things ourselves (2 ppl) save us money or cost us more?
If we opt for a safari, should be book when we get to nairobi or book online before? Estimate it will be late july or early august. Any particular reccomendations for companies?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if you could help me make a decission. We really want to go to Kenya this year and are thinking about startin with 5/6 days of safari and then relax on the beach for an additional 5/6 days.

I have looked at package deals, but they are sky high as it is Christmas time. I have looked at booking it all myslef seperately and I have found reasonabily priced flights, beach hotel etc. Except the safari.

I have read that it is easy (and recommended) to book a safari in Kenya…

We will be in coastal Kenya/Zanzibar from July 9 to July 15, right when Ramadan starts.
All the guidebooks recommend staying away during Ramadan! Oh well.
We are a family of four with kids 15 and 11, we do not need nightlife but we do need to eat during the day.
Can anyone tell me if we will have a hard time finding restaurants markets etc able to help us during the daytime?
