Hi!

I will travel to Malindi and Watamu over the New Year, with wife and 10-month old baby.

The hotel in Malindi has offered me a pick-up from Mombasa airport for $100, so I'm thinking about an Express Matatu instead.

Do express matatus have air conditioning? Where is the express matatu stand in Mombasa (and how much should a tuktuk cost - I guess I have to negotiate the price in advance)? How long will be have to wait (it'll be mid-afternoon)?

Thanks!

I am shopping around for a safari and received attractive offers from these companies. I googled them to see whether other people liked them, but couldn't find any reviews (which doesn't mean they are good or bad, I just don't know).

Elgibor Tours
Express Vacation Tours
Safari Masai Mara

Anybody have done a tour with these companies? What were they like?

Greetings,

I just finished a workshop in Thika (30 miles north of Nairobi) where I was teaching underprivileged high school students the art of filmmaking. With the workshop concluded, I will now be spending these next 2 weeks traveling and vacationing around Kenya. I would like to spend the first 6-7 days on a safari in Masai Mara and Amboseli. After that, I would like to head to the coast, and perhaps see Lamu if I have time. I fly out of Nairobi on the 22nd.

I am an adventurous 31 year-old…

For anyone planning on crossing the Kenya-Ethiopia border in the next few days be aware that the border is currently closed and serious tribal fighting is taking place in and around Moyale. These things have a habit of flaring up and dying down very fast. http://www.capitalfm.co.ke/news/2013/12/dozens-killed-in-north-kenya-inter-ethnic-fighting/

We going to fly to Kigale 14 December and travel in Uganda for 8-9 days (hopefully Bwindy, Quinn Elizabeth and Entebb or Jinja and after going to Kenia there I want to stay at Naivasha for one day at least.
Our contact strongly recommend us to see Samburu and Masai Mara.

Hi everyone,
In the spring I will be going on a research trip to Nairobi of up to 2 months and I'm interested in finding out about accommodation for that length of time.

Ideally it would be close to the National Archives (on Moi Avenue, near the Hilton Hotel I believe), as this is where I will be conducting research. A private room rather than a shared dorm would be best I will need to be doing work in the evenings.

Many thanks for any help and recommendations anyone can give.

I (Dutch, well traveled) want to do an 8 day safari to Lake Turkana on either 10 or 17 January, for the animals but also for the amazing tribes in remote Northern Kenya.

I contacted a number of safari companies that advertise Lake Turkana trips, but they all needed at least 4 people to get a group going. For example:
