Jelena, I just returned from Kenya. You need to have the vaccination only in case you have been within the past 6 months in a region, where there is yellow fewer (e.g.Central Africa).

Hi

I always check the website of the Institute for Tropical Sciences in Antwerp.
They offer a database where you can check per country or regin as well as a broad range of information on medical issues.

When I went I had the certificate but no-one asked for it...

Even if you don't need it to enter Kenya, make sure you don't need it to reenter your own country after visiting Kenya.

Kenya officially requires the certificate if you are arriving directly from an infected area. That means that if you cross by land from Tanzania, the certificate is required, however, officials do not always ask for it. However, it is a good idea to get the vaccination for your own protection. A;though it is not common for travelers to get yellow fever, it can kill you and there is no treatment.

Many thanks for your answers!

It is no longer compulsory, as chances of having the disease are low in Kenya and... because the authorities don't want to discourage tourists.
I'd strongly advise you to be vaccinated though and... ti ask a qualified doctor/center.
