Hi everyone,

I'm a 24 year old Canadian medical student traveling to Nairobi this summer to work in hospital for a month. I've got two weeks prior to my placement where I plan on traveling the area. Since my University recently lowered the travel advisory to a level that allows students to go recently, I'm planning a lot of this last second. Also, with the political and social problems a few months ago, I anticipate that there will be less international students as compared to previous years to travel around with.

I'm an experienced traveler (although not to Africa) and I was hoping to find a travel partner to experience the culture and beauty of Kenya (and possibly some of the surrounding countries too). I was thinking of either a few days in Mombasa and possibly Zanzibar before climbing Killimanjaro, or going through Uganda, down through Rwanda and back through Tanzania. Either way, I've just booked my ticket and have no solidified plans yet.

The dates I will be there are June 28th - July 13th, 2008.

If you're interested, or have any advice please feel free to reply to this thread.

Thanks!

hello ,
It depends with your budget . Most people , especially kenyan residents will expect you to pay for the travel expenses which will be more expensive[ of course depending on whom you are].my advice is that you check the BLUELIST ON THIS FORUM and go through the current posts . You will find a range of private tour guides who will guide you around the country . The advantage is that they enjoy complementary services i hotels etc are their charges are relatively low . Another option is going for companies that provide solo traveler safaris since june is low season i kenya and you do not expect group travels from most travel companies. all the best .

hello!
I will be in East Africa at this time. I leave in a week, flying into Nairobi, probably I'll then head to Lamu on the coast, and make my way down to Mombassa, then across to Dar in Tanzania and then down south. Then into Uganda, possibly Rwanda, and back to Nairobi to fly out again. I'll be there until August 7, and would be interested in meeting some fellow travellers. I'd also like to do a 3 day safari, maybe in the Masai Mara.
Anyway, I'm 25, Australian, pretty easygoing and friendly, on a bit of a budget but not too drastic. I'm an experienced traveller, but am expecting Africa to be tougher than anywhere I've been before (Southeast Asia, Europe).
OK well PM me if you're interested!
