I have now been in Kenya a few more days than 3 months. I had a look at my Visa stamp and the space left ofr valid for xx months was left blank There is some handwriting at the hop saying JBK/3M/???? which i suspect refers to the fact that it is a 3 month visa.

HAs anyone had any experience of overstaying a Kenyan visa in general or in particular any experince of a visa stamp which doesnt have anything written in the vaid until space?

You are leaving yourself open to extortion. Can you not go to Nyao House and get it extended?

A mate of mine got a rubber stamp made up on the street in Nairobi, he was well impressed with it they copied a previous extension stamp from his passport from a few years previous. He was sussed straight away at immigration, wrong ink! if it wasn't for a nun kicking off behind him in the queue while me mate slipped passed he would have had to pay for an expesive chai.

Update for the benefit of anyone with similar visa issues. I went to Malindi Immigration Dept and they gave me a visa extension for te normal price 2200 Shillings. Very freindly and no hassles. Probably sensible to sort it out there rather than risk extortion at the airport.

If you overstayed your visa and you are still in NBO, don't just walk into Nyao House. And ask for an extension. It is an offense (big one) and can get you into a lot of trouble. Rubber stamps won't work since you also get an Alien pass when you get an extension after 3 months.

Find someone around Nyao House that "knows" people. You pay a small fee and they run you through it, and will give you an extension. Drop me a PM if you need someone :)
