I am in Kenya right now on vacation and to meet my girlfriends parents while I am here for three and half weeks. I was supposed to go on safari at the maasai mara today 08/13 but got really sick over the weekend and cancelled...I am feeling much better now but do not know what to do for the rest of the week as i go to safari next week and visit my girlfriends family in the country the next week. I was thinking of volunteering in any organization based in Nairobi because I am here now for the next 4 or five days...does anyone know of a place I can do that..I do not just want to sit...I will do it for free...i do not need any money, just a place to give my volunteer services and help the community..replies will be much appreciated

With only four-five days, go to Lamu and rest up on the beach.

Volunteering is great, but it seems like you are wanting to do it more out of desperation. (I understand--Nairobi can be a rough place on one's own.)

Peace,

BB

thanks for the reply..per my itinerary, I was supposed to go to Lamu next week, but everything has now changed due to my sudden illness, i figure i will go to Lamu next time I come here...so I only have this week to mingle around Nairobi. before I go on my safari next week and to the village the next week before I retun to the States. I am currently staying with her family who have been nice...but on the other hand I do not want to just to sit..I am thinking of doing swahili lessons and polish it a bit. I stay along ngong road, so any volunteer activities around that area would be much appreciated....any more suggestions please...
