Hello everybody,

I know I have asked similiar questions about other places in Nairobi but now
I am preparing for a new trip and every time is different ;-)

I'd like to get first hand infos from people who have seen the ostrich park in
Nairobi. Once again, I am considering to visit this park with a group of may
be 25 Kenyan children (age range 6 to 14). There is not so much info on the
net about the ostrich park but from what I gathered it seems to be possible to feed the
ostriches and they also seem to have a children playground. However, I am
a bit concerned that the same place is also home to a crafts market or
something like that. It is unlikely that we will buy anything from that market
and I am wondering how much touting we will have to expect.

But the main questions are: Do you think that a group of 25 children will find this
park interesting? Is it possible to spend a couple of hours in the park? Is there
a place we could use for a picnic? If yes, can we bring our own food or is there
a cheap restaurant? And does anybody have a phone number or even better
an email address of the park?

Thanks in advance

Xiangqi

I just found out that the ostrich park is part of mamba village and
they have a website mamba village .
I will check the information but I'd still appreciate reports of people who
have been there.

Thanks

the kids love this things and feeding the baby/ostrich will be something great, not often that ostrich are spoted around unless in the parks, so it will definately be an adventure as im sure most may not have seen it live before! yes the craft selling is there, but the best way to deal with this or any other for that matter if you no looking to buy anything is to politely say "No thanks" and continue the "window" shopping,it will be less stress for the both of you. yes good for picnics and also the closeby Bomas, as well as the upward nairobi national park large garden.try those.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful answers. In the meantime I have contacted them through
their website and I got a very quick reply (not so usual for Kenya ;-) ) with some more details.
I am quite sure we will visit the park, there are a couple of attractions (ostriches, crocodiles,
camel riding, boat tour ...) a play ground, a picnic site where you can bring your own food,
but they also have affordable simple meals ... So, all this sounds good, I'll see how good it
really is. I haven't tried the email address jatravel1 has given, so I'm not sure whether it's the
right one, I used the email address given on the website.

Thanks again to all of you for your help
