Hello, this is quite a spontaneous decision. But i want to go to nakuru tmrw from nairobi. And since the flamingo colony is now in lake bogoria, i spontaneously want to go from nakuru to lake bogoria also. Any infos on tours or cheapest alternative possible for me to get there? I contacted one person (got his number from kenya lonely planet guide) he offered 15000Kshs to get me there (since i am alone cos my kenyan friend is not coming due to budget, so this is too high for me to pay alone, he offered 5500KShs if both my friends are coming)

Am really into the flamingo colony...anyone please help me out??

You want to visit Nakuru and Lake Bogoria in 1 day??? It takes like 3 hours to get from Nairobi to Nakuru. Then maybe 2 hours from Nakuru to Bogoria. Factoring in the return journey, you're looking at more than 10 hours on the road. Feasible if you set off very very early in the morning and don't intend to do anything at all in Nakuru.

If you want to see flamingos badly, I believe Lake Naivasha still has them. You'll see them as you head towards Kongoni village. Never been to Lake Bogoria myself, so I can't comment much on it, but from my experience, the absolute best place to see flamingos in Kenya is Central Island NP. But that's extremely out-of-the way for most people.

hi @strikingstar! thanks for the reply. but nope i didn't do lake bogoria at the end. i intended to spend a night at nakuru and go to bogoria the next day, but a friend could come along and he drove and bogoria was too far for him and we only had a small ordinary car that was not a good idea regarding rough street and potholes and we finally just went to naivasha.

and regarding the flamingos, nope i didn't see any yesterday in Lake Naivasha. there were a few of them in Lake Nakuru but sadly only few. a bit sad i could not see the 'pink' lake but well at least i saw some of them. maybe next time when i'm lucky. about the central island NP, thanks for the suggestion, perhaps next time when i've got more time. my weekend trip is now filled with mara and mombasa already and Lake Turkana is a bit far for my current situation.

If a tall the cost is in a van and also includes your park fees then it worth since you are alone.I would advice you you skip lake Nakuru and go strait to bogoria since the flamingos are in plenty compared to Nakuru.
