Recently I went to Naivasha with a guide and a group of other students. I did a boat tour the first day of the lake, getting pretty close to the hippos. We all slept in a large tent at Camp Carnelley's, which I really enjoyed. Definitly a gap yah tragedy place, but the food is really good, try the nacho's!

The next day we went to bike through naivasha to hells gate national park where we dismounted and walked through the beautiful canyons. The whole trip costed less than $100 including transportation to and from Eldoret where I live. The transportation its self was 1/2 the cost. You can do it much cheaper on Matatu and hiring local guides at the gates of each park, and biking on your own without a guide. You need a guide for the canyons but you can get them at the entrance to hells gate.

More like 'Rowdy noisy kids with blaring music'. I loved going there a decade ago. But since adventurous Nairobi youngsters who dont mind the 1-hour trek started destroying its serenity and tranquillity over the weekends, (every weekend -if I may add)I give it a wide berth. Maybe the party animal in me died; and I am now a cynical old foggy who just want peace and quiet 😊

Hi.
Also local lodges in Naivasha or on the main Moi South Lake road near Hell´s Gate entrance. Cheap rooms (less than 10 $) and no foreigners around, good to see real Kenya life! Many matatus around.
We were there last May.
You can also take boats in Naivasha port, much cheaper than in the camps.
Details on our blog.
Enjoy!
