afternoon all

I'm new to the africa branch - so hi.

we're planning a trip round eastern africa for next november/december, and we don't want to rush too much with the time we have. we're in our late 20s, reasonably fit, travelling independently by public transport on a modest budget, looking to see/experience the local culture, get a bit of adventure etc. we'll be arriving in nairobi on around 11th november and we need to get to mzuzu (malawi) by christmas(ish).

we've got about 49 days and we're planning to travel:

Nairobi - kampala - bujumbura (maybe) - dodoma - dar es salam - zanzibar - mzuzu.

i've only listed the capitals and major destinations to give you an idea of the route. We're keen to see the mountain gorillas in rwanda if possible, and are currently looking into other highlights along the route.

so my questions are:

Is it possible to do the route justice in the time we have?
can anyone recommend a good itinarary?
what are the highlights?
possible problems?
what would a rough budget be?

sorry i can't be more specific, but i'd appreciate any advice you could give

Thanks

for low budget plan with 20-25 dollars per day. visa and parc fees not included. (gorilla trekking is very expensive)
Take your own tent. You can save a lot of money with camping.
49 days is enough to go through all the countries you've listed.. Keep in mind, that each travel day is a lost day. Doesn't matter if you go 100km or 500km.
I don't like to give a itinarary, cause you have all time in the world to figure one out.
