I am booking a safari in Tanzania and am looking at flying from the UK via Nairobi.
The connecting flight from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro is fully booked but I have found a suitable alternative from Nairobi Wilson airport with Air Kenya.
This gives me about 7 hours to get between Jomo Kenyatta International and Wilson.
I understand that I will need a transit visa, but how much hastle is this likely to be, considering that I am on my honeymoon and not backpacking!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated...

Absolutely no problem/hassle whatsoever. Transit visa is 20 USD and obtainable like you would buy a pack of chewing gum on your way to go take your luggage: in 5 seconds. Especially now, low season and lack of returning tourists, you will be "alone" at the visa counter (there is one near gate 5-6 and one near gate 11-12).

You only need a valid passport. They dont care about yellow fever anymore, nor about returning flight details.

Agree with SM it really is very easy and straightforward, I go through the transit visa route at least once a month. Last week it took me 30 minutes from stepping off the plane to stepping in a cab with my bags.

Wilson is a tiny airport and you only need be there a max of 1 hour before your flight (if that). Suggest you take a cab into town and relax at the Norfolk or go to the elephant and girafe sanctuaries in Karen (and close to Wilson) to pass the time between flights.
