I just came back from my Mount Kenya hike. It was amazing. I had a great guide, great weather and it was a phenomenal price. I went with a local company to climb. It was only $280 for me since I am a Kenyan Resident and Student, but for the foreigners who did not have residency status and student pass they paid only $550. This included guide, porters, lodging all nights, food, cooks, entrance to the park and many other things. The company had gear to rent if you needed it.

I took Sirimon and Chogoria Routes, which I have heard were the longer but more beautiful trails. It was a long grueling hike especially summit day when you hike to the third highest peak and then drop down into a valley and walk 29km total. It was definitely beautiful on Chogoria Route, I definitly recommend doing those two routes if you have time, it takes 5 days to hike, versus the quicker 3 day trek up Naro Moru Route.

Check out my blog to see more details about my trip, pictures, details on altitude, lodges, what to pack and many more tips for mount Kenya: http://www.bigheartsmallworld.com/2015/08/snow-in-kenya-mount-kenya-climb.html

Hey there,

Thanks for the video :)
Are the glaciers still there? Or is there just abit of snow. It was hard to tell in the video.

Thanks
Matt

There is a very small glacier which is just under the peak. Its much smaller than it used to be.
