H all, just after a bit of itinerary advice.

My girlfriend and I are used to travelling for months at a time so our 12 measly days in kenya is making us a little sad...so we need your help!

We arrive in Nairobi early morning 8th July, and plan to visit a friend just south of Nairobi from the 17th. In those 9 days we're keen to:

  1. relax on a beach on the south coast
  2. trek somewhere natureful for at least 2 days and
  3. see some of kenyas magnificent animals (maybe a one day safari- we aren't v. Keen on sitting in vehicles)...

Shall we fly to mombasa, go to the beach then taita hills and Tsavo national park?
Or Hells gate national park, then fly/overnight train to mombasa for beach then Tsavo by road?

Or something better?

Thanks for your time, it really is appreciated.

Best wishes,
Sunil

You have many options but as far as animal viewing is concerned, the biggest factor will be your budget.

Hell's Gate is a cheap park that you can do in one day but does not have the full inventory of animals. The "Big Five" parks on the other hand have to be budgeted in the range of at least $150-175 per day (roughly speaking).

You can do the coast, Taita Hills, etc quite cheaply. So it really depends on your wallet.
