Hi everyone,
I wish to know how best or good it is to visit Masai Mara via Ololaimutiek as I plan to stay at one of the camp near the gate. Will there be a possibility for to experience migration if entered from the gate and which is the present point of crossing over to Mara and how far from the gate if there is one?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Prakpow

You don't say when you are planning to travel but I'm guessing you mean in the next few weeks.
I'm based in Siana area of the Mara but was in the Reserve 2 days ago. At the moment the migration is very much on the Talek side however they move all the time and in a matter of weeks will be on this side too. Where ever you are staying in Mara though if you are going out on full day gamedrives you will have plenty of time to move around the park and see them. No one can predict where they will be crossing more than a day or 2 in advance though but at the moment they are all over the areas from Mara Bridge, Lookout Hill and Sand River border point with TZ to Talek, slowly spreading out towards Sekenani.
Bear in mind a lot of the other action/big cats are also usually found close to where the migration are so if you were planning to come in the next week or so I would suggest Talek or Sekenani as a better place to stay as to come from Ololamutiek side it is much more of a drive back and forth.

Thanks LDMM for the vital information. I has a similar vision for the distance for the predators to be. Any suggestions for cheap camping accommodation at Talek or Sekenani gate during August 2nd week?

No problem. Yes there's a few good budget tented camps where you can also pitch your own tent if you have. For Sekenani try Mara Explorers Camp or Mountain Rock and in Talek there is Riverside or Aruba camp.

Not really as the camps all have different prices depending on what kind of accommodation you are after. Also not many have prices on their websites so you will have to contact them directly.

Try these which do;
http://www.riversidecampmara.com/pricing/
http://www.maraexplorers.com/ourrates

Thanks LDMM for your co-operation to make my safari enjoyable. I did contact all but unfortunately accommodation at Mare Explore Camp is full at the time I wish to visit. The other are still to reply to my request.
Is there a way, I can contact you or PM you for further discussion and sue your expertise? Let me know.
Thanks.
