Hey Friends,
I am trying to sort out a month in Kenya-Tanzania and since I am already planning a Mt. Kil trek after a rather pricey Habitat for Humanity build, am trying to decide where to safari while not bleeding out the rest of my budget!

On the other hand, there I am going to be...

What do you recommend: Masai Mara or Serengeti proper? I am thinking both would be pushing it and possibly redundant?

Many thanks!

I've done both and had very different experiences in both. The Masai Mara was greener, I saw lots of baby lion cubs and a leopard there. The Serengeti is more barren, more like what I had imagined from The Lion King! Saw plenty of lions there too. Had a fab time at both, but my personal preference was the Serengeti.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, have you considered the Ngorongoro crater? This was my favourite safari spot, saw so much and the setting is amazing.

of course, its pot luck whatever you see on the day but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the three spots :)

Yes, definitely Ngorongoro Crater -- maybe that with Masai Mara is perfect! THANKS!!
