My husband and I have 4 days in Kenya at the end of June. We would normally head for Peponi on Lamu or Hemingways in Malindi. I've promised my husband scuba so Lamu is out of the question and Hemingways is under going renovation and closed. Has anyone stayed at Che Shale or Driftwood Beach Club or have any other recommendations? We prefer small, quiet, non mass-tour type places, with good food and wine, not too bothered by budget. We're not fans of Mombasa and can't be bothered to trek to ZZB. I'll lie in a hammock and my husband will dive as many times a day as possible.

thanks

You might want to look at Diani Beach instead...try Leisure Lodge and Golf Resort, Diani Reef, and, the TOP: Leopard Beach.

also if you want something really exclusive with amzing rooms, amazing beach, goof food and excellent wines try Funzi Keys. It is absolutely out of this world.

Also if the beach is not a must I would advice to go to Shompole. Just google it and you wil get their website. It is just out of this world. Also 1 of the few places you can do night safari etc. But than can't do diving. But in my opinion it is one of those few places where you should go atleast once in your life.

Thanks guys. My earlier reply seems to have vanished! We've gone for Leopard Beach. Funzi Keys is gorgeous and we've stayed there before, but sadly not open until mid July.

Shompole looks fantastic, we will remember that for our September stop over.
