Hi!
I'd like to do Kili, but am concerned about not acclimatising properly and not summiting.
So I was thinking if I do it in six days rather than the usual five days, that my chances would be better.
Can someone advise me which would be the best route? Maybe from Kenya? or starting in Kenya and finishing in Tanzania?
Also could someone recommend a good tour company for me.
Many thanks!
Alessandro

Alessandro,

I would advise do the Kilimanjaro climb first then head to Kenya . The choice of 6days is a good thing, but is it 6 days on the mountain? offcourse if so then there will be a day and a night at Moshi when you arrive. I would advise you take Machame route-7days 6 nights on the mountain. I happen to have done the climb with Kilele Afrika Ltd www.kileleafrika.com, its a medium company in Tanzania and they offer budget climbs as well groups treks and safaris. Email: info@kileleafrika.com

Hello Alessandro, Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania and it is under Kilimanjaro National Park (KINAPA), which is under TANAPA (Tanzania Nationala Parks). So you have to go to Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro. Machame route is the one which takes 6 days and most of budget climbers take that. There is also Lemosho route, Shira route and Marangu route which take more days. For acclimatisation you better take the longer route which take a slow pace for climbing than the 6 days which take 4 days Climb and 2 days descent. I wish you success in plans to climb Kilimanjaro.

Hi Allessaondro. We did the Machame route last year in 6 days and that was perfect for acclimatisation. We started the route in Moshi but you can start in several towns around the Kilimanjaro. 6 days means that you will be back in 6 days, basicly it is 4 1/2 day ascending, 1 1/2 day descending.

We went up with a small local operator, Tro Peaks in Moshi. We can reccommend them.

Hi Allessaondro,

Climbing Mt.Kilimanjaro will only be done in Tanzania and there is no way you can climb it through Kenya so my advice is Climbing through Tanzania and descending in Tanzania if you have another plans for Kenya then that will follow before or after the hike..
you can look at this TO oreta adventures

Congratulations Alessandro!! I am a Tanzanian but have fear to climb Kili because of the health problems associated with it. So your achievement is a challenge to me but I still have to conquer my fear.
