What are the rules and restrictions on the Kenyan transit visa?
I know it is valid for 7 days and given this I was thinking I could fly into Nairobi get the transit visa then spend a couple of days in Nairobi doing day tours before going to Arshua (I wouldn't go back into Kenya).
However reading some posts on TT it seem that the immigration officer ask for the detail of our travel plans and if it seems you're sticking around Nairobi a couple of days they'II automatically issue you the more expensive single entry visa?

If you don't ask you don't get, and you don't lose anything by asking for a transit visa. I've never had any issues at JKO asking for a transit visa for 3-4 days and on several occassions for 7 days. It will cost you $20. Just say your in transit to TZ and be polite.

Exactly as 1 says. Be insistent and they will give you. Tell them something like "I am on my way to Tanzania for safari, didnt have a connection, blablabla".

Most important is the connecting flight within those few days that would facilitate and proove your statement more correct, and less suspicious for a transit V -which is also good for you should anything happen to you within those transit days while in nairobi.
