Hey Tak263! I was travelling with a Kenyan friend so we used his car. I would recommend hiring a car as the drive is reasonably remote... Not a main road and dirt road in most parts- you're passing lots of farms and stuff, not really towns very close by. Otherwise maybe you could sweet talk some locals but it depends if you're willing to take the chance ;) let me know if you have any other questions!
Happy travels!

sigh... Thanks for the information! Unfortunately at the time of our trip we will be 22 years of age, and I cannot seem to find anywhere that will rent us a car if we are under 23. I will keep looking however!

We are planning on staying at Sweetwaters Tented Camps.. Could you tell me for activities in the conservancy (i.e. visiting the endangered species broma, or going on booked game drives), did you need a car? Or do they come and pick you up?

Thanks so much again :)

I knooooow. I'm 22 so I feel your pain! You might be able to organise something less formal with someone in Nanyuki if you are lucky, but I can't guarantee the quality of the car etc. I am too poor to stay at sweet waters (lol!) but I suggest you read this trip advisor forum with very detailed reviews: https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Hotel_Review-g319715-d1891386-Reviews-Sweetwaters_Serena_Camp-Mount_Kenya_National_Park.html

I think they could organise transport from Nanyuki for $$$. But I think it would be quite expensive. When are you thinking of going? I can put you in touch with someone Nairobi based who may be able to help you out. Please PM me if you're interested :)
