I have a resident visa and a pupil pass for students. I have learned some negotiating Kiswahili which has gotten me into parks for the student resident cost which is 1/10 of the foreigner cost.

If you would come to Naivasha, i can recommend Crater Lake even more than Hell's Gate. Just walking within the giraffes, zebras, buffalo's, waterbucks and so much more. You can also combine with a boat ride on Lake Oloiden (sometimes you'll find flamingos there but unfortunately they are not there right now) or on Lake Naivasha. Crescent Island is also in Lake Naivasha itself, having lots of animals to walk in between, is also very nice.
There are some cheaper places to sleep, going from 600 to 1000 shilling.
If you'd like to visit Naivasha in a low budget way, you can contact my husband Offin who is a local tourguide, he can definitely offer you low budget activities(jempskenya@gmail.com or +254729866173). He also offers community-based tourism and safaris. Or if you just need some more information about Naivasha, just feel free to contact me, it is a wonderful place. Enjoy your stay in Eldoret!
