Hey

Been out to Kenya with Susan from Mikitours once before on safari and to volunteer and so turned to them again when I decided to trek up Mount Kenya. My original plan was to go out and sort out everything myself - guide, porters, cook, accomodation, vehicle - but at the last minute decided I couldn't be bothered with all the hassle. Even though they only had a few days notice and we wanted a custom itinerary with 2 extra days on the mountain EVERYTHING on our trek was organised perfectly. Can't recommend them enough to anyone planning to trek mount kenya - always do when anyone asks. If you do plan to climb choose the sirimon option (up sirimon down chogoria) as this is the best route on offer with amazing views along the way.

I checked out the link and thought the price was a bit high. Any idea how much it would cost for a solo traveler?

Thanks.

Meant to ask cost for solo trekker setting it up on the spot without an agency.

I'm not sure - didn't do much research prior to arrival. If going solo certain costs are removed - for example miki gave airport pickup, a night in their guest house, used a private 4x4 for us and had us in a decent hotel/lodges all the way whereas you can just use the public buses, stay in a cheap backpackers place and camp while on the mountain to save $. The extra support was worth the extra $ in my opinion but judging by your previous posts you travel a lot and would probably be well suited to sorting it all out yourself :o)
