Hi,

I've seen a couple of posts about this - but they seem a bit older so thought I'd see if anyone has any more recent suggestions. I'll be in Kenya for a week in December - I'm keen to visit some parks and see the wildlife, but as I'm travelling on my own I'd really like to join a (budget) group tour. I've seen lots advertised but wondered if anyone had any particular recommendations..... or companies to avoid!

Thanks!

Hello
As for me i would urge you to consult tour companies that have nice reviews.Being a budget trip the price range should be between $120-$150 per person per day group joining camping safari.
All the best in case of any query fill free to ask.

Hey,

I was in a similar place last year.

I booked a 3 day Masai Mara with a company called Let's Go Adventures. Very easy to deal with, super affordable (around $300 in total). The safari was ok, camping was crappy and the van was average but that seemed to be the standard for all the budget safaris.

Also, it seems like there is an umbrella company, as the people on my tour had all booked through different companies.

Another thing - I managed to bargain with all the companies I was dealing with to get the pricer lower!

Travel, can i ask you to clarify camping was crappy? What sort of things did you not like about the camping. If i have my own tent and sleeping bag etc, would camping be ok. on my tour i will be bringing those things anyway. And therefore wonder if i would feel camping was crappy like you.

The camping wasn't bad - they actually provided tents with beds and toilets. More just the cars, guides and food were crappy. I also thought the game drives were a bit short, but you do get two game drives a day. And I'm pretty sure it's negotiable.

In hindsight, I would've done a mixed Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru tour - I think it gets more animal time. Enjoy! It's beautiful!

Joining a safari is the best thing to do as single traveler. The prices range from usd 130-150 per day for camping.
It depends on the company you choose. Generally a good company should offer excellent services not looking at the budget. There are very good budget camps with good food.Kenya is beautiful and you will love it.

OP, in case you are new here, I would avoid any business that posts on these boards, such as splendour holidays. Its long established, that businesses are not welcome to spam here and this site has lasted so long becuase its a valuable source of consumer given advice.

Thanks for your replies - I think I'll have a look at safaris for visiting Mara and Lake Navushu and maybe see if I can fit in another national park too. I'll have a search online to see what safari companies people have recommended. Does anyone have any they have used previously that they would recommend?

Travel1604 - it doesn't sound like a great review if the camping was crappy and the safari was only ok. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I'd happily spend a bit more if it meant a better chance of seeing more wildlife
